That's all kinds of amazing. Get a diesel lump in there and it would be the most awesome car in the world, EVER!

Nice. I think the wheels really go well with it.

Pretty much what I have planned for my Montego when I get the cash eventually.

It has great lines. My sister had a Montego, but it was a little newer, but fatter/wider. This one is more svelte and looks nice.

why in the hell would you not only rip the stick out, but leave the clutch pedal in?

Yea this was the best year in my opinion!

Not sure about seeing a clutch pedal...I see the hi-beams button on the floor and the parking brake pedal to the left...
C4 would have been the stock auto trans.
Am I missing something? (Sidenote I have no idea why you would put that hurst shifter in there as opposed to the standard column one.

originally had a 302, standard shift. Clutch pedal still there. Now has a fresh 351W, 4V w/a performance cam. C-4 automatic w/ Hurst shifter.
Yeah baffles me but the C4 would have been right in there.

Explains everything. And I clearly was missing something.
The 351 with a C4 is going to be a much better car than the 302 with a stick shift. Probably had a 3 speed manual. The C4 is also a 3 speed but he's gonna get great consistent shift times off that C4.
I can't explain leaving the pedal. Laziness?

big slutty wagon like that should be an auto anyways, I had a 71 country squire with a slusher in it and some monstrous V8 around400 cid. You have as much fun regardless of what you do with it, till you hit the gas station. The roadmaster woody does me much better in that regard!

It was probably a 400m, cool motor. I almost bought a Torino Sport that had one in it at one point. Basically a truck motor they started dropping into cars, was a great way to have MOAR TORQUE. lol
Roadmaster would definitely treat you better tat the pump than a 400m. Especially after I got done with a 400m.
My 302 is already running through gas in comparison to when it was just a little 2 barrel on there.

yeah I had a Ranchero with a 400M in it too and boy did that thing suck it down with a 4bbl on it. Mo-torq for real though. Almost as bad as my 73 Wagoneer with a 4bbl 360 and Quadra-trac. That one ran at 6-8MPG

Woo! I have no idea what mine gets now...I'd say I'm scared to find out but frankly I don't give a damn lol.
I don't drive it very far, just around town. I also never fill the ginormous tank in it. I normally put in 40 and get to a half a tank.
BTW, in case you haven't been following I have a 1968 Montego like above but it's a 2 door hard top, red with black vinyl roof. the 302 in it has an edelbrock performer intake and a holley 4 barrel. When I got it it was just a 2 barrel and it literally sipped gas. Now it's like I'm pouring it through the engine with a pitcher.

Yeah I really like the Montego, nice body shape and tons of room for improvement. I havent had any really old American steel for some time, playing with the imports till the right wagon comes my way again. I see a torino squire up here in Maine that is tempting...

The wagon wouldn't have fit in the garage for me. But that's fine I'm into the 2 doors. I was originally looking for a Torino when I discovered them. I love the grille on it and it give it just a little touch of weird by being different.
Great cars, though some of them did come with the big blocks, especially the Cyclones, good luck finding one though! I like my little 302, parts are everywhere and they make great power!
